Events and Programming 2016

January-May and October-December

Outreach Program - Invite a Park Interpretive Technician to your school or organization. Schools and other interested groups are encouraged to call the park to arrange a fun, informative presentation on one of the following:

  • “A Closer Look at Wild Animals” (Kindergarten & grade 1)
  • “All About Bears” (grade 2)
  • "Boreal Botany" (grade 3)
  • “Adaptations to Habitats” (grades 3 - 4)
  • “Species at Risk” (grades 4-6)
  • “Natural Legacies: Documenting the Diversity of Life” (grade 6)
  • “Effects of Exotic Species on Ecosystems” (grade 7)
  • “Consumptive Wildlife uses and Management Strategies” (Environmental Science 3205; NEW!)
  • “Eastern Coyotes of Newfoundland & Labrador” (grades 4-6 / general audiences; NEW!)

April - May

During National Wildlife Week and throughout the month of April, Wildlife Division staff will be visiting schools across the Province to offer Outreach programs as part of its curriculum-linked program. These programs are also available to other interested groups, such as Girl Guides, Scouts, etc. The Wildlife Division will also be hosting a Province-wide radio contest from April 7-11 with great prizes for winners.

June 1 - September 5

Summer Visitation Program - The park is open to the public from 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. daily (entrance gates close at 5:00 p.m.)

June 20, July 19 and August 15

FAMILY FUN DAYS - Bring the whole family and your friends for a terrific day of crafts, face painting, games and refreshments

June 1 - 28

Spring School Program - Teachers are invited to bring their class to the park for a full day interpretive program/nature walk. For programming information, visit http://www.ecc.gov.nl.ca/snp/programs/education/school_program/teacher.html or call 229-7888 to make a reservation.

May 30 - June 1

Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program, Lavrock Camp and Conference Centre, Salmonier Line. Register early as classes fill up fast! Registration deadline is May 15. To request a registration package, email brendapike@gov.nl.ca or call 229-7888.

September 1 - October 13
